#Canada150 Day 60


Children  in elementary school (kindergarten to grade 6) in St. Albert AB can enter the Canada 150 Breaking Down the National Anthem Contest!

  • Using our national anthem, children are asked to create a short story based on the words in the song.
    • What story do you see when you read or listen to the Canadian anthem?
    • Do you hear a poem or do you see a story being told?

Elementary schools in St. Albert have been invited to participate. Your child may be participating though their school. If not, they can enter separately.


  • 28 students will win a special Children’s Luncheon (bbq) on the plaza at St. Albert Place – June 9, 2017 at noon.
  • Winning entries will be posted on the City of St. Albert website and used as part of St. Albert’s “Collecting Canada’s 150 Stories”


  • Contest officially starts March 1, 2017. Submissions will be accepted until May 1, 2017 at 5 p.m.
  • Submissions must be in written text (English or French) and must be a short story or poem.
  • There will be categories for each grade (kindergarten to grade 6).
  • Please include your name, address, and phone number on your submission.
  • Mail or drop off your entries to:
